First layer not sticking on complex design

I've been printing with my i3 since july. Mostly things go pretty well. I'm running into an issue lately with a particular object I'm trying to print. Its a snowflake stencil. It fails pretty much right away, it cant seem to stick the pla to the bad with the sharp corners. I've tried it on the slic3r normal preset (.20) and .20 with linear advance, but same result. Doesn't even get though the first perimeter of the snowflake design before it lifts and starts mopping the whole thing around the bed.

I'm using esun pla+ filament, bed temp is 60, nozzle temp 215. Latest firmware and slic3r versions as of two days ago. Bed cleaned with ipa

Ran a calibration before starting. the v2 pattern prints fine, as well as a 70mmx70mmx0.20mm test square (prints really smooth, comes off the bed and measures exactly .20 mm thick with my calipers)

Other things I've been printing lately have been fine (though I'm getting some warping on big items, but that might be an ambient temperature issue, Canadian winter has begun and the printer lives in a relatively cool room). Other prints have sometime a similar problem, but not severe enough to fail the print, just an initial perimeter has a little tail that doesn't stick down, usually around corners.

Any recommendations? Different temp for bed/nozzle? Even slower 1st layer speed (currently 30mm/sec)? Extrusion multiplier is currently 1, should I adjust that? My pei sheet is only 6 months old, but should I do something to rough it up, I remember reading somewhere that a dry kitchen sponge helps with shiny spots, but I haven't tried that.

can you post a picture of the part after it has come loose especially the side that is touching the bed?

also have you tried adjusting the live-Z height?

sometimes I have to increase or decrease it to get a larger or small part to work based on material and part.
I normally do it on increments of 0.020mm at a time while its printing the first layer and watch it to see if it look better than the last.

you can also run the first layer calibration again to see if its off as well as the Z-axis calibration if you haven't done it in a while to make sure the fist layer is sticking evenly to the bed.

thanks for the response,

I ran a full calibration and live-z adjust a couple days ago after upgrading the firmware. I used the (now built in) first layer calibration, then the 70x70 square to see how it did. The square is super smooth, all the lines are nice and snug against each other (I usually put a test square in front of a light source after printing to see if there are any leaks, none in this case), and its thickness after I take it off the bed is exactly 0.20. my live-z adjust is at -0.625 (i know that would change based on the probe height).

So if that setting is producing a solid and smooth first layer exactly at .2 mm, would you recommend closer or further away to help small details stick better? My instinct is closer but I'm learning there's a lot of counter-intuitive solutions to 3d printing problems.

Increasing the ambient temp might help (place a cardboard box over the printer.) The shrinkage is rapid cooling.

Clean the bed with acetone to bring it back to new if it is loosing its properties.

Your Live Z sound good.

Last ditch effort for problems, print with a brim.
