finiture of spare parts prusa

What is the procedure for this particular finish to the original pieces printed by prusa?

There is a rumoured new textured heated bed.

I've wondered if you could use a grip tape of some sort and get a similar texture. My concern would be it sticking too much to the tape, and the stuff isn't cheap if you had to replace after each print. I was thinking something like this https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01M63K167/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_dp_T2_DTiFzbV1JG797

But whatever Prusa is doing, I like it. It gives the parts a more injected molded professional feel.

Re: finiture of spare parts prusa

I am wondering if anyone has experimented with a post process for something like this.

After the print is complete (maybe during an anneal cycle?) if you placed it on a hot textured surface that only "sealed" the bottom layer with that pattern.

This type of post work is done in fused glass all all the time. You fuse everything at a high temperature, with a flat bottom and then place the item on a fiberglass weave that has a texture and only bring it up to a softening temperature to imprint the texture. Would be much easier with these plastics.

I would think a good completely non-stick surface with the texture. Place the items on it, and place in the oven to soften/anneal and it would imprint the texture. Since this surface would not need to stick at ALL (for printing) it could be something very different. This way you could, in theory, get this texture on all external flat surfaces by repeating the process for each surface.

I think I will go do some research.

Yes I also thought of it as a film to be applied on the bed

Wow. The overall print quality of their parts has gone up quite a bit since I received mine. Even without that nice finish.

I just tried the new Slic3r "Top/bottom Fill Pattern" option "Hilbert Curve" on an enclosure print.

It make a very nice texture on the top and bottom. Not as good as the PRUSA print, but top and bottom.
