Extruder not staying at temp (MK2 Kit)
Hello All,
I have had the MK2 kit for less than a month and it has been working great until recently. I tried printing some Ninjaflex with the MK2 and it worked great but once I went back to PLA the extruder temp kept fluctuating and now I cannot start a single print because the temp will not stay at 215. I am not really sure what has happened since it previously worked great. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Keith Kuntz

Take a look at this document. Some of the problems listed here might be relevant.

I added the e3D sock, which helped my issue. Others have the loose connection problem.

Hi Keith, Did you try doing a PID autotune @ 215C? I was getting the same problem @ 255C. Once I did the autotune, I put the new values in an M301 command as a starting script & the temperature fluctuations went away.

When you say it does not stay at 215 deg C how much does it fluctuate? A few degrees or more like 10 to 20 degrees C?
In my case the thermistor connector was bad and after replacing it with a soldered connection my temperatures are rock solid again.
Re: Extruder not staying at temp (MK2 Kit)
Hello community,
I also have an extreme fluctuation of the temperatures in my hotend the differences can go up to +-10°C as the set 215°C for my PLA material.
It is affecting the quality of the surfaces.
The link to the support site is very helpful but I am not aware of how to splice and solder the wires correctly. I do not want to risk the safety because of this.
As you guys stated that you are applying a new method within the manufacturing for the hotends.
Can not you make a quick tutorial on how you are doing it? Like a step by step. As it is a crucial and risky part of the printer.
Furthermore, my hotend stops heating within the last part of the V2calibration.gcode. That should be a sign for a problem on the thermistor, right?
