extruder motor jumping

my machine is only a few weeks old and it has developed a problem were you can hear the extruder jumping or slipping, this leads to a gap in the line on the print.
I have tried adjusting the tension however it still seams to do it (this is using pla) I have tried a few different rolls of filliment but get the same result.
if I apply a little pressure to help feed the filament this stops it

any ideas?

Re: extruder motor jumping

A few possible causes:

Dirty filament drive pulley
Spool not turning smoothly
Filament twisted on spool
Bad tension setting
Partially blocked nozzle
Damaged PTFE tube
Temperature insufficient

Re: extruder motor jumping

check while printing if it is slipping or stuttering.

if it is stuttering, you might wanna check out this topic:

Re: extruder motor jumping

it looks like the motor is turning smoothly but every so often the motor slips on the filament like the filament cant go through fast enough. if I help feed the filament in with a little pressure it stops, the drive pulley looks in good shape, I have not changed any temp settings but it is starting to cool down here in the uk a small amount to when I built it. how can you tell if the nozel is blocked?
