ERR MINTEMP - expected behavior

Hi all,

My printer is in the garage and I was getting ERR MINTEMP messages at times. I think the hardware is fine, my garage was just cold. I attempted to resolve the MINTEMP error by manually setting the extruder and bed temp. After these temperatures were reached, I was able to select a gcode file from the SD card. The printer would go through its calibration routine but the printhead would then move to the front left corner of the bed and nothing would print.

It seems to me that manually setting the extruder and bed temps does not clear the MINTEMP error and prevents the printer from printing. Does this make sense as the expected behavior?

I have a portable heater that I can use to gradually heat the room. This avoids the MINTEMP error and everything works normally.

Try a pre-heat first, to warm things up - then press the 'X - Reset' switch and select your gcode
from the SD card before things cool off too much?

Works for me...

OMG. I just wasted 2 hours chasing a ghost because of this. I thought it was the file so I kept reslicing, comparing raw gcode side by side. Nothing. The screen had no longer said min temp because I had preheated, and changed filament. There was no indication of a problem on screen.

So frustrating. Thanks for telling me I must reset even if the printer appears to be working.

I have this issue too whenever I start the first printing in the office whose ambient temperature is always below 10 degrees. It takes 30 to 60 minutes for heating up the chamber 800 x 900 x 1000 mm using a heat bulb. 😈

Get this all the time. It is the room temp. I just stick the heating on in the room and once it comes up to 16 degrees I am good to start.

Strangely, if I finish a print and leave the printer on its fine to start straight up even if its way below 16 degrees. weird
