Does all 1.75mm fillament work

Hi I am quite new to 3d printing and I am considering the Original Prussa I3 Mk2. But I need to know if all 1.75mm filament works in it.

Hi Joshua,

Chances are high they will. Some are easy to print with, some require quite some "practice" or "tinkering" to get perfect prints.

The Prusa i3 MK2 is not limited to specific filament type or brand. It can print at least up to 270°C at the nozzle, the heated bed can go up to 110°C (if i recall correctly) and has adjustable parts cooling. So it will print (almost) every filament you throw at it. There are tons of different filaments available in 1.75 mm, different types (like ABS or PLA or ...) from countless manufacturers in lots of different variants , so I am a bit hesitant to say "absolutely all of them" will work.

Slic3r (the software that you can download to prepare your print) comes with profiles for the following types of filaments to get you started quickly:

ABS, PLA, PETG, Flexible (TPU/TPE), HIPS, TGlase, Nylon, Specialty Filaments with Metal particles, Carbon fibers or Wood particles in them, Copolyesters and Polycarbonate. That already covers a giant share of filaments available. But you're not limited to these. Many more can be added by yourself simply by modifying these existing profiles to the values required to print that particular filament.

Hope that helps

Short answer. It depends on the material you use. I mostly print with PLA. See Thomas Sanladerer's reviews of filament on youtube. He is a great resource and knows what he is talking about.
