DC Connector between PSU and Prusa?
Hi there,
i'm using a MK2 in a ikea-lacktable-enclousure.
The PSU is mounted outside of the chamber; the original 2x2 PSU-Cables still connected to the printer.
Now, sometimes i have to get the printer out of the chamber (maintenance, etc.). To disconnect the PSU from printer, i have to disconnecting the Connector on the Rambo, and thats annoying.
I would like to have it plug&play with male&female-connectors.
First question: How many Amps run to the printer in worst-case? Printing ABS/PETG.
Second: Which connectors should i use? Maybe, the normal DC/DC 5,5x2,1 would be ok? ( http://www.ebay.de/itm/DC-Stecker-Buchse-Steckverbinder-Adapter-Kupplung-2-1-x-5-5mm-mit-Schraubklemmen-/401288726423?hash=item5d6eac0797:g:O1MAAOSw2gxYwlDa )
Thanks!
Re: DC Connector between PSU and Prusa?
these connectors won't be suitable !
the printer draws up to 20 amp, 22 in theroetical worst case !
heatbed = 15 A
hotend = 3 A
steppers & electronics = 2 A
i would recommend some connectors like these, used for trailers or caravans:
female
male.

Re: DC Connector between PSU and Prusa?
Okay, i known that the printer draws a higher mount of amps. But wouldn't it be a little bit oversized to use these connectors on 2x2x1mm² or 1,5mm²?
The original connectors on the rambo seems to be ok; i know them from PCI-E-GPU's (2, 4, 6, 8 Pins) - maybe these would be ok too?

the connectors at the rambo are driven "at the edge of their specification". and furthermore, you'll probably need a longer supply cable (in total).
every little connector resistance will count. i even recommend that you use two 2.5mm² cables (at 1.5mm² you might loose to much power at the cable).
so it's better to use some "oversized" connectors than some at the edge of their specification.
and another point to mention: you won't disconnect the 7-pin car trailer connectors accidentially (maybe during a print)!

Re: DC Connector between PSU and Prusa?
Totally with Jeff on this one.
One (preferably both) of the cables must be able to handle 16 Amps (15 Amp fuse; the cable/connector must be rated higher than the fuse protecting it).
