Damaged hot-end

During an overnight print, the Y axis belt on my i3 mk2S failed. The print continued and filament from the extruder coagulated into a huge blob encapsulating large portions of the extruder assembly. The blob is now solidified and cannot be removed without destroying the hot-end wires and plastic housing. It is likely that the extruder assembly and all associated components will need to be replaced. For example, even though I could detach the extruder motor and PINDA probe, their wires will be damaged during extraction.

I can't find these replacement parts on the Prusa e-Store. Even if they were available, it may be more cost effective to order a new printer kit.

So here's the question: Is it sufficient to order an i3 mk3 upgrade ($499)? Will this include all necessary components to fully replace the hot-end assembly on my i3 mk2S? Or, should I order another i3 mk2S ($599) and scrap my existing unit?

Re: Damaged hot-end

You can contact support via the shop.prusa3d.com site. They do keep replacements for everything, just some they do not list and only keep for problems like yours.

Re: Damaged hot-end

I've disassembled as much of the extruder assembly as possible. Attached are additional images of the damaged items. By my reckoning, I will need to replace the E3D V6.1 Assembled Hotend and the ABS parts which encapsulate it.
