Curling of PLA Plastic

Hello,

I purchased a Prusa i3 Mk2 kit around 3 months ago and the performance of the printer has been fantastic. However, recently I've been come across this wave pattern when the plastic is deposited onto the heat bed. My internet research and limited 3D printer knowledge has either lead me to conclude its to do with the Z-axis positioning or that my nozzle has a small amount of material contained within.

Any guidance or helpful tips would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Curling of PLA Plastic

it looks as if your Live Z setting is wrong,

this could be due to thermal affects on your Pinda probe... (some pinda probes become inaccurate as they heat up, often the heated bed causes this heating) try raising the extruder / Z axis to say 60mm above the bed height, before starting to heat your printer

or it could be because your live Z value is wrong... not a big enough negative number

or it could be a mixture of both...

I try to make safe suggestions,You should understand the context and ensure you are happy that they are safe before attempting to apply my suggestions, what you do, is YOUR responsibility. Location Halifax UK
