Calibration... problem? sorta?

I'm having a real weird issue; when I run the XYZ calibration, I get "XYZ calibration compromised. Front calibration points not reachable". Before I see that, though, it checks 4 points, then 9 points, and then reference height for 9 points... seems to do the full calibration, and it very obviously finds the front calibration points.

When I click the button I get "X/Y skewed severly. Skew will be corrected automatically." Misspelling aside, I'm having trouble seeing how the skew can be "severe" when a) I've measured the distance from the back to the frame on both sides and they are within 0.05mm of each other (checked after the issue), and b) it obviously found all the points. Also when I look down at the bed along the frame the lines line up perfectly and when I do some test prints it all looks like it's working.

So basically the calibration claims it failed, but then it seems like it worked... and I'm left completely confused.

Any thoughts?

Richard

Re: Calibration... problem? sorta?

I am running into the same problem.

We turned it on the side and used a wrench to adjust the frame. This removed the "severly skewed" problem, but it still says the front points are not reachable. It seems to be reachable just by watching it run the calibration, but I may be missing something subtle

A little backgorund on what was going on before this became an issue. I tried to print the castle that came preloaded on the micro SD card. the print went just find but somewhere in the process of removing the castle (it became adhered to the base and required improvisation to remove) I suspect the probe got out of sorts. when attempting to reset it was when problem emerged. I cannot seem to see what i am doing wrong, and any insight as to how to fix it would be appreciated.

I'm also having the same problem (among others). Calibration clearly finds all points, but then after it says the left front calibration point is not reachable. Even despite that, I can still print, but it's unreliable (separate issue I believe). If it helps for diagnosis, it's also not reading the SD Card reliably and I get a screen full of gibberish for a few seconds on startup.

I'm having a problem like this too. My package arrived really dented by I assembled hoping nothing was damaged. It finds on the points on calibration then when its fine tuning the 9 points on either point 4 or 5 it errors saying it cant find the point. Any solution ?

My problem (I was the OP) is resolved now; I had measured the distance from the back points to the frame as 100.5?mm (manual says 100mm) and had to increase that to 100mm and now everything says it's good. I did use calipers to measure to make sure everything was spot on.

Mostly unrelated I also did a mod to replace the zip-ties that hold the print bed onto the Y axis with ABS parts (used a project from thingiverse) and it has a lot less play which is resulting in less "wobble" along the Z axis. I never had a lot, but for some prints (particularly flexible rings) it was meaningful.

Looks like you just have to measure, measure, measure... and give an extra 1mm or so from the back to the frame if you can't get to the front axis. I've got a friend who had a similar issue with skew and the power supply bracket was pulling it over. Seems like it's just something to keep messing with until you get it right :-/

Good news is that mine is now claiming everything calibrated and everything is perpendicular.
