Buying a replacement heatbed

Hi guys!

I have an MK2S, and I damaged my heatbed. Where can I buy a new one? The only place I found is this:

https://orballoprinting.com/en/home/161-mk42.html#/112-options-only_mk42_heatbed

And it's quite expensive, 53 Euro plus shipping and taxes. Any recommendations on cheaper suppliers?

Thanks,
Ram.

Hello coolRR!

You can chat with Prusa shop and ask for access to the spare parts side. The count of available items usually don't match what's in the shop.

Are you sure the bed is damaged - and not just the PEI top sheet of the bed? You can always measure the bed with a multimeter to see if there is a discontinuity. The PEI sheet is removable - search the forum for 'PEI' for instructions on how to change it.

/Henrik

A new mk42 prusa heatbed is 94 euro, oops, also pretty expensive

Mine's got a little hole from the nozzle which happened during the calibration process.

Perhaps covering the hole with a new PEI sheet covers the problem. But the sides of the hole are a bit higher compared to the bed... perhaps I can cut it away

What you describe is likely just the PEI sheet, not the bed.

You should wait, and get the new magnetic bed from PRUSA available in Nov (Dec?). It will be much better, and only a bit more expensive.

Any advices given are offered in good faith. It is your responsibility to ensure that by following my advice you do not suffer or cause injury, damage or loss. If you solve your problem, please post the solution…

I wish, but the hole is pretty deep. Luckily its at the side, so for most prints its not a problem.
And indeed, the magnetic bed would have come in handy already a few times. I would however want to sell my mk2s and get a mk3, but would like to fix the bed first 😀 for the new owner.

The MK2.5 kit has the magnetic bed and its an option for MK2/MK2S users...
