Bill of Materials

Does anyone have Bill Of Materials (BOM) for the kit? I want to order a spare set of hardware, and would like to know exactly what I need. If no one has it, I'll go through the instruction manual and manually comply it.

Re: Bill of Materials

I have some bits from the nuts and bolts if that helps. I would purchase a bag of 25 of each. I have not gone for a full set of spares or I may as well buy another printer 😕

Heres the list. Double check.

M3 Nut x9
M3 Square Nut x6
M10 Nut x14
M8 Nut x22
M3x10 x6
M3x18 x12
M2x12 x2
M3x25 x2
M3x40 x3
M3x30 x3
M3x20 x3
M3x8(caphead) x5
M4x10 (caphead) x2
LM8UU x7
623 pulley x2
GT2-16 (5mm) x2
GT2 belt I would just go for 2m
M10 Washer x12
M8 Washer x22
M5 Washer x2

Springs I have not had a look for yet. I just went for a set with numerous sizes. That way I had a spare of a few sizes just in case something went wrong. I cannot see anything going wrong with a nut and bolt though. Please share what you have so far.

Re: Bill of Materials

According to my counts, there are a total of 10 LM8UU bearings.

4 for the Z axis, 3 for the Y axis, 3 for the X axis.

Dimensions PNG

and an 8 inch (200mm) or greater caliper is recommended.

Re: Bill of Materials

Hi,

if your need is just to have a stock of spare parts to counter a sudden hardware issue, I would reduce the list to the parts that are the most likely to fail, so I would keep this minimal list:

3 * LM8UU bearings, so that any failing axis could be repaired, I do not think they could all fail at the same time, or you would have time to notice gradual degradation over time
2 meters of GT2 belt
2 GT2-16 5 mm (I have one with a screw scratched, hoppefully it's well positioned but I can't adjust it anymore)
2 fans, one of each types (sorry, I do not have exact specification)
1 PEI and D-limonele (or 2 PEI sheets to optimize port cost !!)
Bags of zip tie, those are reguraly consumed during various operation on the printer.

ABS Printed extruder support parts (so a spool of the same ABS used for the printer, black or Orange, depending of what you got).

regarding all the M3 variation, I consider them as sturdy enough to not consider them as breakable, even with Murphy's law 🙂

I'm like Jon Snow, I know nothing.

Re: Bill of Materials

To be completely honest if you want new bearings I would print them using PLA. 😉

Do you have any particular model in mind or even tested? I tried few of them from thingiverse and wasn't very satisfied with results. I will appreciate good recommendation with slic3r settings tips (will be printed on MK2).

Re: Bill of Materials

I went for this one http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:102482

They are not a print and fit though you need to do a little bit of work. That with some silicon lubricant. ABS tends to glase from what I was reading somewhere.

Re: Bill of Materials

I printed something similar, but for the parts where 2 bearings are fitted, I just made a single long bearing with a flat down one side.

Doing this helps prevent twisting during print.

Re: Bill of Materials

Ben

It is simply a model from Thingiverse, stretched to length and with a flat side.

In all honesty, I really didn't think anyone would be interested, so I didn't keep the original. Should not take more than a few minutes to create.
