Best Print Software for Prototyping

Hi Guys!

This will be my first 3D Printer, and first of all i want to use it for prototyping. I am working with Solid Works.
Most important for me is, that all Dimensions are as precise as possible.
What is the right Software to use (Slicer???) ? And what file format do I have to use? X_t?
Sorry if the Question is stupid, but I never worked with 3D Printers...

Thanks!

There are a few things you will need to get right if you are looking for dimensional accuracy. As you have already chosen your printer, you will need to ensure that the build is as precise as possible.

Regarding the slicer, you may find that the program used is almost irrelevant, and that the settings used within the slicer are much more important. For a start, you will need to print the outer perimeter for each layer before the rest of the layer and you will need to print quite slowly (speed is also dependant on material you are printing).

Generally, most slicers will handle STL and OBJ files.

Please note that you will not obtain dimensionally perfect prints with "hobby" printers, but you can get fairly close with this one.

Are we talking about precision or accuracy?
Precision of MK2 is quite good, maybe one of best in its class. If the kit is assembled correctly, you get the output as precise as possible.
Accuracy depends on many factors and it can be affected by tuning the parameters of slicing software, as Peter mentioned.
Just be aware that you cannot get better accuracy than what is physically possible (limited by HW resolution and properties of filament material).

Thank you for your answers! Of course I will give my very best to assemble the printer as good as possible.
We are talking about precision and accuracy. Of course I will print as slow as possible. I am not expecting CNC Parts.
+/- 0.5mm should be enough....which I think is absolutely possible.

You can get +-0.5mm with hot glue gun by hand. 😆 Well tuned MK2 is about +-0.1mm.
