What is the ambient temperature around your printer?

My printer heats up much quicker, in about 24C air temperature.

As MrMik says the ambient temperature of your printer environment affects the bed temperature rise. Personally I will never use ABS in the future in an open frame printer like the Prusa I3 MK2. There are better materials out there now. ABS is dead in my opinion. I have a dedicated ABS printer with an enclosed environment, the prints still fail if large and lift off the bed. Too much hassle. Warping is the main problem with large prints and ABS. And I use rafts. I use a bed temp of 100 deg C with my dedicated ABS printer. Still problems with lifting and warping in the enclosed environment.

My Prusa I3 MK2 failed with ABS too.

It is in my loft. Temperature up there is about 25 degrees C (edited after checking).

Would love to have others time the process to compare.

Would love it if you could get a cheap ready made enclosure that isn't massive (like a Lak table build).

Weird... My room is warmer than that and it takes at least twice as long.

It isn't affected by the Silent Mode setting is it?

Confirmed, it is not affected by Low Power mode. Takes just as long in each.

It seems to get to about 90 degrees in about 10 minutes, then the rest to get that extra 10 degrees.

Grasping at a straw there, but did you check the connection at the Rambo board if there's maybe some poor contact or something like that? Just guessing but won't hurt to take a look..

That seems a bit long. I would check to make sure your thermistor wires are not damaged at the Thermistor end. Also check the cable connection at the back of the X-axis extruder piece.

Also check power supply voltage. Measure input voltage of PSU at Rambo side and also measure voltage delivered to heatbed at bed side.

Checked all wires, nothing seems damaged.

I can't see the voltage being an issue. Those same voltages will be driving the motors without issue.

What voltage should be doing to heated bed? Also, is it right the LED on the heat bed flashes constantly?

That doesn't matter. Motors work different way.
If you get 1V less than nominal 12V, it is only about 8% of nominal voltage, but it is almost 15% less of power generated on heatbed.
I asked you to measure two voltages - PSU input on Rambo and heatbed input on bed itself. Guess why? There will be additional power loss if there is significant resistence on connectors. Just check it.

And yes, LED should blink when the temperature is about to reach target, it is PWM controlled.

I measured bed heating time from 26C ambient to 100C as 7min:01s today.

I never measured it before, but it's always felt very similar to this heating up speed.

For the higher bed temperatures, I normally place a sheet of cardboard over the bed surface during warm up. It acts as an insulator. Cut the cardboard that came with your printer to the size of your bed. For me it shaves about 3 minutes from my normal warm up time. Just make sure you remove the cardboard once your bed temperature is reached! 🙄

as the last poster mentioned, an inulator worked well.

i just waited 50 mins for my hotbed to heat to 110 and it sat on 103 for most of it without reaching temp

i put a sheet of aluminium foil resting on top and it was up to temp in 2 mins 😉

Just to point out. I went back to ABS for some needed prints. If I use UHU Glue stick provided by E3D I get no issues with warping or lifting on printing MK2S parts for an upgrade I will do when my perfect Prusa I3 Mk2 show signs of wear. I believe " If it isn't broke don't fix it"

I am getting perfect ABS prints with Orange ABS supplied by RigidInk. Using E3D supplied glue stick on the PEI bed. Go figure 🙂

I have a 1KG reel of RigidInk Orange ABS on my Prusa. And I am solely printing in ABS right now. Great results. I print in a small room, no drafts and little dust. Ie the smallest bedroom (box room) in my house.

I agree the heat bed takes a long time to reach 100 deg C. Despite the new heat bed. I suspect an A/C heat bed is needed. Or higher DC voltage heat bed.

I had that exact problem, my bed thermistor had gone loose.
