bad/irregular printing after 3/4 layers

Hello,
https://photos.app.goo.gl/INnRG6AZIFNC1x7b2
If you can see the picture, you will understand the issue. I suppose i'm not the first to have that kind of problem...
The 3 first layers are very nice : no peeling-off, very flat...
4th layer : some irregularities appears.
Next layer : the nozzle begins to touch the previous layer and it goes worth and worth... I have to stop printing to avoid damages on the nozzle.
Some help ?
Thanks by advance !
Jean-Paul

Re: bad/irregular printing after 3/4 layers

It is worth first determining if this is a problem with how you are slicing the model, or a mechanical problem with the printer.

Please print one of the "included" GCODES. Say the Prusa Logo. If this prints okay, then your problem is a slicer setting. If this does the same thing, you have a mechanical problem. Let us know and we can help you diagnose, either way.

Any advices given are offered in good faith. It is your responsibility to ensure that by following my advice you do not suffer or cause injury, damage or loss. If you solve your problem, please post the solution…

Hi Aaron, and thank you for your help.
I guess the problem is not mechanical...The Prusa logo printing is OK.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/Av906Ux5BpDc8Y1J3
Some more clues/informations (sorry, i'm newbiein 3d printing and not native english speaker... not sure to use the good words):
- it seems clear that, after some layers, the nozzle is not high enough. The nozzle touch the model and the ABS cannot be extruded in a proper way.
- the issue is worth after each more layer. When I add 0,1 mm (Live adjust Z) after each layer, the result is better. Better... but not good because 2 layers further, the issue comes again...
- after 6 layers, the nozzle is scrubbing on the previous layer...
I suppose that the height of each "Z step" is to low...
How can I manage that issue ?

Thanks,
JP

Re: bad/irregular printing after 3/4 layers

First we need some information on what slicer program you are using.

1) Which slicer?
2) Which version?
3) What settings? (Print, Filament, Printer)
4) Are you using Linear Advance?

Live Adjust Z only affects the first layer, and should NOT be adjusted after the first layer.

Have you read this?

Re: bad/irregular printing after 3/4 layers

HI,
Thanks for following me.
First of all, I let you know I deed finally print my model successfully by generating a new STL file and a new Gcode with Prusacontrol.
I don't know why it worked ... but it worked.
Anyway , I would like to understand why the first attempt was not good... and how to avoid that issue. Because it not the first time I encounter the problem.
I'm working with STL files generated with Sketchup.
1) Which slicer? PrusaControl
2) Which version? 0.9.4-415-beta
3) What settings? (Print, Filament, Printer) ABS Normal (z step to 0.2mm), filament 1.75mm, printer MK2S
4) Are you using Linear Advance? No

Bets regards,

JP

Jean Paul,

Very glad you got your print to work. Unfortunately, I do not have enough information to know why the original went wrong. My guess is that you changed a setting in the slicer that had this effect, but you have not shared enough information for me to diagnose.

If you still have the old .gcode, and the new .gcode, you could compare the settings (usually in comments at the end of the file) to see what is different between the two files. Otherwise, it is hard for us to see when you are our eyes and ears.
