Re: Anyone trying out Linear Advance?

Is this a "toggle" exposed to gcode or a firmware edit?

Re: Anyone trying out Linear Advance?

It is a modified firmware. I am trying to find the link but I am at work and can't get to some sites.

The pics of test prints look promising.

Re: Anyone trying out Linear Advance?

I've been getting rough top infills and no amount of twiddling with Slic3rs settings has solved it yet. Maybe this will. Going to definitely flash my MK2S as soon as its done with its current print and start testing this.

Thanks a million for posting this!

Your welcome. Looks promising and the word is it could be part of the next firmware update.

I want to try it also but my MK2 is running so good I hate to mess with it!!! However, I don't have any pressing jobs for it so maybe a good time.

I will be interested in what you find out.

Re: Anyone trying out Linear Advance?

"Pressure Advance" used to be an option in Slic3r that has been moved to a trial firmware version here: https://github.com/Sebastianv650/Prusa-Firmware/tree/MK2-LIN_ADV-PR

I believe it to work quite well for single filament use, but with the MM upgrade, you may find that different filament types/makes/colours may require individual settings and I don't think that is currently possible within firmware.

Personally, I use the "PreloadVE" feature within KISS which provides the same functionality but at filament level.

Here is a first test print in natural PETG. I am not disappointed at this point. Now running a long print and we will see how it does.

Re: Anyone trying out Linear Advance?

very nice print! I've flashed and am on my first test print. running with k = 40 on Polymaker polyLite Black PLA to see how it holds up.

Come to think about it, I should probably be printing in white or grey to see issues better...

@PJR

I totally agree about the single material vs multi.

One of these days I'm going to check out KISS. Your posts throughout these forums have pretty much sold me on its merits. I just need to find some free time.

pjr, would you share your kiss settings? I used kiss when I had a mendel90 and the results were fantastic.

@David, @Danlad KISS is currently is a state where it's getting better on a daily basis. Jonathan is working very hard to implement a whole raft of new features and, being one of the testers, my profiles are continuously changing (and they are for the MM version).

However, with the (not-yet-released) version of KISS that I am using, it takes only a couple of minutes to set up the printer and get excellent results immediately.

Suggest you wait a week or two for the next beta release.

Peter,

since "a week or two" have passed: do you have any information when 1.6 will be released? I would like to test it out. I have a few problems with a part I want to print and would like to give KISS a try and see how it performs.

Re: Anyone trying out Linear Advance?

Been running LA with very good results but I wanted to discuss retractions settings specifically. I think it was mentioned that LA negates the need for retraction if your esteps are calibrated but I tend to run filament a little hotter than usual to ensure proper layer adhesion and my prints are very fuzzy due to all the nozzle dripping during travel moves.

Regarding KISS, not sure why people dont like to share their profiles.I dont fully understand that slicer and I was able to get the MK2 configured but there are some fancy option I've never heard of in the printer setup. I feel like people that have a solid KISS setup aren't open to sharing.

You really haven't looked for any shared profiles. If you had taken the time to look either here or on the Kisslicer.com, you would find them easily.

The KISS site is the best place as there are the latest profiles for both single and MMU Mk2/s printers. Here you will find only single Mk1/Mk2/Mk2S profiles.
