Alternative source for the orange ABS

Hi,

I want to print a replacement Y belt holder(new model) but I'd rather use the same orange ABS which is now out of stock in the shop.
Does anyone know an alternative source for that filament?

Have you tried Amazon? I don't know which country you're in but the UK one has these for example:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00J4GXNZK/

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01CP5DKXQ/

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00J0H4EVU/

Search: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=orange+abs

The USA site is similar:
https://www.amazon.com/s/url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=orange+abs

Josef said that the Prusa filament is made in Czechoslovakia but whether it is available to buy direct from the makers I don't know...

While I understand the desire to have it the same color but since it is a hidden part I would use whatever I had available.

Yeah, you're probably right.
I think I will make it from PLA. How high would you recommend the infill to be for such a part?

Thank you.

I would not recommend PLA for such parts under stress. My experience with a printed toy catapult indicates, that the PLA flows under long constant stress and a bit higher than room temperature. The catapult loaded with thin rubber bands bent visibly in a summer heat (roughly 30 degrees centigrade) after a couple of days.

Vojtech is right. Since it is attached to the heated bed it would be best to use either ABS or PETG.

If you're in the USA, use Makergeeks. They make low odor, medical grade ABS for a decent price.

If you're in Europe, can you order directly from e3d-online?
http://e3d-online.com/All-Filament/SpoolWorks-PLA-Sweet-Orange17
It is only 750g rather than 1kg for some reason.

Slightly off target...
I have ordered orange PLA off five different vendors on eBay. And so far. All have been unable to supply... do you think Josef has monopolised all of the orange dye in the northern hemisphere?

Joan

I try to make safe suggestions,You should understand the context and ensure you are happy that they are safe before attempting to apply my suggestions, what you do, is YOUR responsibility. Location Halifax UK

I just printed anti-vibration feet for my newly-assembled i3 Mk2 in Zortrax's Z-ABS orange and it's a pretty good match. You probably don't have this in stock either but might know someone who does. Or, Amazon sells it for US $29.90 with free USA shipping.

I have designed and printed a replacement for the Spool Holder. The material is http://www.filafarm.de/products/abs-filament color orange and it fits reasonably.
