3rd Party SD Cards

I can't seem to find my SD card that came with my Prusa MK1 so I used a 16GB SD that I have lying around, I uploaded the V2Calibration G-Code and the SD card isn't showing up on the printer menu.

Re: 3rd Party SD Cards

Is it formatted as FAT32? The printer can't handle NTFS.

It is formatted to FAT32, is there a specific allocation unit size it has to be?

I think standards are 8gb.

The lock button on the side hasnt been switched has it? Not sure that would stop it reading the sd card though

Re: 3rd Party SD Cards

I myself am using a Toshiba 32GB FlashAir card and I'm not having any issues. I'm pretty certain that 32GB is the max size the printer can read since any larger uses a non FAT32 format.

Dimensions PNG

and an 8 inch (200mm) or greater caliper is recommended.

Re: 3rd Party SD Cards

I just had the same issue with the new 32GB SDHC Toshiba W04 Flashair card. At first I taught that its too new and unsupported, but then I got it to work.

As there was nothing on the new W04 in the web and it runs differently, I think this is a good place to share instructions how I got it to work. (This was the first google search result when I searched for solutions).

So, for For Toshiba Flashair W-04:

1. Go to www.toshiba-personalstorage.net/ww/support/index.htm and download all the instructions PDF-files and the configuration software.

2. Run the FlashAirTool software

3. Initialize the card

4. Set your network settings

5. Set Wireless LAN startup mode to Auto

6. Run Flashair Drive setting

7. Close flashair tool

8. Open my computer, the card, make sure that hidden files are visible in your explorer view settings and open the hidden folder "SD_WLAN". Edit the file "CONFIG" and make sure that you have:

UPLOAD=1
UPDIR=/
APPMODE=5
APPAUTOTIME=0
APPNAME=3DPrinter
APPSSID=YourWif-NetworkName
APPNETWORKKEY=YourWifiPassword
LOCK=1
WEBDAV=2

Other stuff may remain the same, don't delete any rows.

9. Put your card in your printer.

10. Update your printer software (Windows drivers) to the latest then Update your printer firmware to the latest (FW from july 12 2017 worked for me). For firmware scroll more down on this page: http://www.prusa3d.com/drivers/

11. Navigate to settings on the printer LCD, there’s an SD Card setting there that will be set to [normal]. Press the encoder wheel once and the setting will change to [Flashair]

12. Now you should see your files in the printer

13. You can access your files typing \\3DPrinter\davwwwroot in the windows explorer address bar. To create shortcut to that location, simply drag the icon in the beginning of the address bar to the location you need the shortcut.

Re: 3rd Party SD Cards

Codeplayer thank you! There are almost no hits when searching for W-04.

I followed your instructions, worked first time, awesome!
