Underextrusion or temp?

Hey all.

I've noticed that there are opening between filament tracks all of the sudden. Is that generally a sign of under extrusion or temp being too low? I'm seeing this on layers 1+ of the object I'm printing now.

Thanks!

Here's a sample of what's printing right now. Notice the HUGE gaps between filament:

Re: Underextrusion or temp?

Underextrusion can happen for a million reasons, so I'm trying to narrow it down. I'm assuming it worked fine before with the same filament (?).
Most likely reasons:
- Temp too low as you said. But not much, +5-10° max.
- Maybe you used higher temp filament in between and changed back to PLA (partially clogged nozzle with leftover high-temp material stuck on walls). Do a couple of atomic pulls (basically remove MUX, heat up to 250, stick in a length of PLA, push until it extrudes, leave it and cool to 80, yank it out). The tip should look clean and cone-shaped.
- Accidentally wrong software setting (happens to the best of us, printing ABS with PLA settings etc.). Filament diameter and multiplier and cooling settings set correctly? Also many filaments cannot be printed fast.
- Something has settled and needs to be adjusted (Bondtech gears, Festos, metal tubes in MUX, PTFE chaff in metal tubes or hotend)
- Something has reached end-of life or was damaged (Festos, Nozzle)
- Slipping gears (check for filament chaff, it's a symptom of too much feed path resistance or too high gear tension)
