Temperature Error and Gung-ho extruder

Hey guys,

I'm finally starting to get better print results with my MM upgrade. The issue that I'm having now is that when the print first starts, two things happen that aren't correct:

1. The very first extruder move sends so much filament through the nozzle that it grinds straight through the HIPS filament that I'm printing with, or even ABS for that matter. It's kinda upsetting to have to keep cleaning the pulley teeth out and helping the filament into the extruder at the beginning.

2. The temperature preheated to is correct for the first filament it purges, but then it doesn't change the temp at all until the second layer. If I set extruder 1 to 255C for ABS on 1st and all other layers, and the 4th extruder to 230C for HIPS on 1st and all other layers, the following happens:

- The printer preheats to 230C, then it prints the clean strip across the front of the bed normally.
- It then goes to the front left corner of the bed and on the first movement of the purge rectangle it pushes out too much filament for the extruder to handle. Every time, even after having just loaded the filament.
- It then unloads filament 4 and then loads and purges filament 1, completely normally. But the temperature stays at 230C.

I don't have the gung-ho issue anywhere else in my prints. And once I manually set the temperature, everything works perfectly. Any clues? I last updated my firmware maybe a month ago, during assembly.

David

Re: Temperature Error and Gung-ho extruder

You can change the initial extrusion in the "Start G-code" section to correct the initial load over-extrusion.

As for the temperatures, I think this has been mentioned before, but you may want to raise an innsy on github.
