Re: Stringing on MM

Thanks for the note about the retraction at 4 mm. Do you think an increase in retraction speed would help ? Can't seem to cure stringing with temperature changes. Also, I'ts not a problem when doing MMU, just single extruder prints.
THANKS !

Re: Stringing on MM

Just want to jump in here with my experience....

I had really bad stringing, really bad. I found that my nozzle was leaking from junction of the Heat Block & Heat Break. I only found it because I could see small black spots on the surface of the prints which was the filament burning on the Heat Block. I had to disassemble the hotend and tighten the Heat Block. Stringing then almost vanished.

Perhaps it could be something to take a look at?

You should deretract as quickly as possible. To support that, there is a separate settings in Slic3r Prusa Edition for retract speed and deretract speed.
Also there is a new setting "retract amount before wipe", which sets how much of the retract should be done before the wipe movement. When set to zero, most of the retract is done together with a wipe move, which slows down the retract move. When set to 50, half of the retract is done quickly and the rest of the retract is done together with the wipe move.

Is the deretract setting in the same area as the retraction setting ? I guess I've just never seem it before. THANKS !

Re: Stringing on MM

Sorry, I messed up the terminology.
Retract should be quick, deretract aka priming should be slower.

Re: Stringing on MM

I'm wondering if someone who has got their PLA to print with minimal to no stringing on the mk2 MM could print this test item and post a photo https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2219103 ? It should be a fast 3-4 minute print. I'm trying to gauge my expectations about how it should look when the settings are properly configured. I've been trying unsuccessfully to get rid of stringing completely with several PLA filaments (Prusa, Atomic, Esun). I've improved the stringing a lot but I feel like I can't match the quality of my printer before I upgraded to multi material (however I never printed any of these stringing tests back then).

Here is about the best I've got it tuned with the Prusa PLA (super zoomed, this thing is tiny):

200C, 5mm retraction, .1 z lift, .15mm layer height, fans default
