Removing brass inserts from extruder motor bracket
Hi,
The set screw on the gear for extruder motor 1 loosened up which allowed the gear to slip and then break off part of the bracket inside for one of the two idler screws. I am working away with the other 3 extruders but intend to replace the extruder motor bracket. I've downloaded the file, successfully printer the bracket and two idler doors using extruder 4 and some Esun orange ABS filament. How do I get the brass inserts out of the old bracket? I've thought about using my Dremel tool to drill holes in the old bracket so I could grab the brass inserts with needle nose pliers, but thought that other users might have a better way.
By the way, I've been reading Peter's tips a lot, they have helped a lot as a new 3D printer owner to deal with various filament jamming issues.
Thank you,
Jamie
Re: Removing brass inserts from extruder motor bracket
Maybe heat up the insert with a high-wattage soldering iron in order to melt the plastic adjacent to it, then pull it out?
Re: Removing brass inserts from extruder motor bracket
I ended up just breaking them out with a pair of heavy wire cutters.

How are you going to insert them in the new part?
