MMU with Simplify3D

I have to say I haven't been getting many response to my queries on this forum recently.

However, for those looking for how to use Simplify3D with the MMU, I made a quick video on how to use filaswitch for doing retractions and generating a prime tower:

That's a good video and I gave it a try using S3D 4.0.1 and the Python script. It worked great to a point.

What appears to have gone wrong for me is that after a certain layer the nozzle was getting set to 55C. Then set at the next layer back to 200C. This didn't work too well. 😉

I didn't choose any supports (as that model does not require them) but for giggles I added a raft. The raft is firmly stuck to the bottom of the print.

That's not something I've not seen before. That's the heated bed temp, so there might be some confusion happening. In the Temperature tab of the profile, try changing the tool number for the heated bed (but make sure it is still checked as a heated bed)? If you open up the gcode and search for "; TOOL CHANGE" you should be able to scan around and see where the temperature changes show up around there.

Actually, I am seeing it too with the most recent version of filaswitch. I'll get it reported.

If you want to use the same temperature for all extruders, for now there is a work around by setting Extruders 2-4 to 0 degrees in the temperature tab.

The temperature issue has been corrected. Pull the most recent version of filaswitch cfgfiles branch.

Spegelius here. Merged cfgfiles to master branch today and released 0.16.0. So PrusaMMU support in filaswitch kinda official now :). Of course as I don't have MMU on my Prusa MK2 (I use Prometheus), testing is not 100%.
Do let me know how it works. https://github.com/spegelius/filaswitch/releases/tag/v0.16.0

Re: MMU with Simplify3D

Hello Spegelius!

I pulled the recent version of Filaswitch, ran a dual color model through S3D and 8 hours later the print was completed. Thanks!

I need to play with the support and raft settings. The raft on one print (which I had to abort, layer shift) was on firm and would not separate. On my successful print I munged the temperatures. I had 200 on one filament and 210 on the others.

That produced some really weird artifacts. 😀 but as I see it, this was successful. Thanks again.
