I add my voice to the complains... third hot-end.
I feel like I never learned with the mk2S because I never had any issue...
The MMU should be called Multi-Failure Upgrade...
It can only print PLA, I give up on using anything else, I don't like Jam...

I completely agree based on my experiences.
I no longer have my MMU installed of this weekend. My single extruder MK2S is printing again with no jams or filament issues. It's just nice to get back to doing what I enjoy and not being angry at all the issues that arose from this massive failure that is or was my MMU upgrade.
I will be considering my next upgrade with a great deal of care assuming I ever decide to by a Prusa upgrade.

Just to voice a different opinion, I am quite happy with the MMU.
- I didn't have any big issues since the upgrade. After reading all the posts on how many people were unhappy with this option, I was almost scared to install the upgrade and had some tiny issues in comparison at the beginning. But so far no big troubles although I feel the quality of dual/quad prints is close but not as good as single material. I also had a few issues with multicolor print with Octoprint which is a big of pain considering I sometimes need to start big print remotely.
- I don't think this upgrade is a "must-have" for people who have little experience in 3D printing. Things starts to be more technical at each stage from the design to the printing process which had lots of complexity and source of issues in comparison to single material.
- I plan to buy another PRUSA printer but without MMU sometimes in the spring. At that stage, given the issues people seem to have with MK3, I am not sure if I'll go for this model or stay with another MK2S which I found was doing really good prints.

Hi all,
after 3 weeks of breaking in and trying things out, I managed to print items with 2 colors and 3 colors. The result was fine and I was happy, though it feels a little less exact as a single print with the MK2S. Anyhow - it shows that the MMU in theory is able to perform - it is just not that straight forward as one would expect when reading all this marketing stuff. At the moment I am going for extruder number 4 and plan to do a full 4 color print soon. The good thing is that the printing quality using a single filament is good and I do not plan to revert back to the old MK2S until further notice :-).
Ahh - before I forget: I even put a print on "pause" for the night and continued on the next morning (3 color print), and everything went well once the print was restarted.

I have mixed feelings, my problems were finally down to terrible quality control, subpar tolerances or damage by wrong assembly of the hotend in the factory. The documentation in case of problems just sucks, there is no excuse for that. A wiki or poll with the forum users would fix that within days.
I have other printers and lots of tools around, so could print spares and try stuff. Still took me 2 months with zero support from PR to get to a level where I can take care of details. I even bought a couple of spools of their own brand to get a baseline for testing, but that stuff was actually much worse. The heatbreak design is de facto closed source, at least you cannot get solid information about the geometry from E3D and they are only selling it through PR. Overall, not recommended for the average 3D printer enthusiast (I belong to that group and wouldn't buy this again).
The removal of 0.1mm layers is a ripoff IMHO, at least that should be clearly advertised. Maybe that will come back, but I won't hold my breath.

I had struggles with my MMU as well on the MK2S - I directly mounted the 0.25mm nozzle when doing the upgrade. That nozzle performed like a charm on the regular build - but at least for me its simply not usable at all with MMU, even when modifying all the settings step by step.
I installed the 0.4mm nozzle that came bundled with the MMU (not the original 0.4mm from MK2S single) two days ago - its immediately working like a charm with latest presets from https://github.com/prusa3d/Slic3r-settings .
Even though I'd love to have the 0.25mm nozzle working I will stick with the larger one for now...
Will be trying the revised MMU head ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2740929 ) with the 0.25mm nozzle however.

Hi, final update on this thread from my side. I finally did manage to print the 4 color benchy and for me that result is acceptable. I do not need to repeat what other users have highlighted - as this still stands. This upgrade is not recommendable to anybody that would like to enjoy a hazzle free 3d color printer. It does work for some of us - but not reliable and as such it might not be a product that should be sold at this point in time.
Anyway - it was good to get some feedback and tips from the more experienced guys. There is another thread that is dealing much more with improvements on the technical depth and thanks to Seth and Nils and others, I am going to focus on that thread.
