Loud Beep After Priming But Before Print

When doing an MM print after priming there is a very loud beep (same one it does if your firmware is out of date), however no message is displayed on the screen and after about 10 seconds printing proceeds normally. Is this expected? I am slicing in Slic3r Prusa Edition 1.37.1 MM version.

I'm guessing so since there is a M300 S800 P500 in the Gcode output from Slic3r, just wondering if there is a specific reason for it. I see there is an M1 S10 in there to which explains the 10 second delay. Is it just a delay for things to stabilise or something?

This beep signals priming has been done. You can then look to ensure you like the results and push the encoder button down to quickly start the print. If the priming was not enough you prime some more. I cannot find at the moment where I read this otherwise I would have linked the info ! This is from memory so it might not be 100%.

Found it ! guess I was wrong on the prime more !!! lol

Prusa Multi Material: Starting with this release, all filaments active in a print will be primed at the edge of the print bed before the actual print starts. After all the filaments are primed, the printer beeps and waits for 10 seconds for the user to verify, that all the filaments are primed properly. If the priming regions interfere with the print, the printer is paused indefinitely for the user to remove the priming material before the print starts.

Not reading the release notes closely enough 🙂

Thanks for pointing that out, makes perfect sense now. Will be handy if I ever do a full bed print.

does the print fail if the button isn't pressed in 10 seconds? I'm having some issues where the print wont start after the beep and dont know if it's related or not

I run OctoPi, so take this in that context. Octopi has a "time out setting" that WAS very short (10 sec) that bit might during "ColorPrint" operations (before I upgraded to MMU) so I set it for a more reasonably long duration.

Now with the new Slic3r that pauses (which I would LOVE to disable) I have "let it go" a few minutes before I got to OctoPi to tell it to resume. (Did I mention that I would love to disable this new "feature"?) It did not fail. I am reasonably certain that had I not changed the Octopi settings, it would have terminated.

I would LOVE to disable this pause feature. (I like the priming of the used extruders on the test line, but the pause is a major pain for me and my work flow.)

Any advices given are offered in good faith. It is your responsibility to ensure that by following my advice you do not suffer or cause injury, damage or loss. If you solve your problem, please post the solution…

Re: Loud Beep After Priming But Before Print

What exactly is your issue with the pause? The beep? Or that the print stalls for 10 seconds? Or because the Octoprint integration fails?

I believe you may add the G-code into a list of "long" commands inside OctoPrint, so octoPrint integration will not break.
