filament breaking between spool and printer on all 4 extruders

I recently updated my mk2s to 4x MMU. It seems to be working ok except for filament breakage between the spools and the motors. I'm using Hatchbox PLA, and have been using that for a long time with good results. After going to MMU every one of my colors (and each extruder) has broken during prints resulting in failure. It doesn't happen immediately but can me hours into a print when it happens. they don't all happen at the same time, but I've had breaks in every one of the colors/extruders.
Any ideas what might be going on? I guess it's possible all of my filament suddenly went bad, but that seems unlikely. I don't think it's the brand because it never happened in many prints prior to the upgrade. It's also possible that the new spool holder and geometry of the filament inlets is causing strain that breaks the filaments. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi, could you post a picture on your setup so I can see how the filament is routed?
I had the same issue at first expecting the filament to be able to flex more but it wasn't forgiving. I had to change the location of my spool holder to compensate for this until I finish the modification for the motor housing to accept PTFE tubing so I can use the holder like a Bowden setup in itself and mount above the printer.

PLA that has been sitting in open air for a while starts to get brittle due to absorbing moisture. Some of my older rolls are so brittle that an unspooled strand will break under its own weight. Sounds like that is what is happening to you. Try a opening a fresh roll and see if that helps. Old filament can be baked or run through a food dehydrator which will help restore it.
