Extruder motors are crazy!

I loaded Extruder 1 just fine, but en I try to load extruder 2, extruder 1 unloads the filament completely and extruder 2 doesnt even move. All the cables are connected correctly. I triple checked. What's happening???

Re: Extruder motors are crazy!

Wrong firmware? You need to download the MM firmware upgrade from the drivers page: Firmware 3.0.12-RC1

I should have the correct firmware. Otherwise I would not have the multiple extruder option, right?

Did you check the firmware version on the LCD?

If you are running the correct firmware, then it could be a cabling issue.

Not at all. Even if you purchase the printer with the MM upgrade it still ships with the firmware for the regular MK2S. As Peter said, you need to make sure you have flashed the correct firmware for the Multi Material upgrade.

I purchased the printer in December. What I meant is... I flashed the MM firmware last night and it shows MM stuff, like for example, filament loading of multiple extruders, which would not appear if the previous firmware were installed, because the previous firmware does not have anything related to MM in it...

Anyway, I am going to check again, and reflash it, just in case anything went wrong with the flashing... like gamma rays or something... 😛 I am also going to check the cables again... If nothing works, I'll post pictures of the cables, in case you guys can see something I cant...

Re: Extruder motors are crazy!

I found the problem! There was a cable in the wrong spot. It was the cable in this step:
http://manual.prusa3d.com/Guide/4.+Electronics+Assembly/364#s6133

It was on the far right , but on the bottom row instead of the top one... A mixture of the difficult angle and me being almost upside down when I installed it... :/

Thanks for the help guys!

Yes, very easy to get that one wrong. Well found!
