Extruder holder PTFE tube dimensions?

While trying to install the 4 PTFE tubes in the extruder holder ( http://manual.prusa3d.com/Guide/3.+Extruders+Assembly/362#s6106 ) one of them got damaged (because it wouldn't go in and I used too much force).

Knowing Prusa is probably not going to ship any replacements very quickly I'd rather first try to find some locally.

But can anyone tell me what the exact dimensions are for that tube? According to the component bag the length is 13mm and the outer diameter is 4mm but the inner one? It could be 2mm but it seems even smaller than that? Perhaps it doesn't matter much this close to the extruder and I can just buy a 4mm outer/2mm inner tube?

Any ideas? 🙂

Yeah, it's standard 2mm internal diameter.

For a quick fix, just slice 13mm off of each of the four PTFE splitter-feeder tubes. They won't miss 13mm. I've also found those tubes to be much closer to the spec'ed 4mm OD and went into the extruders much more easily than the supplied 13mm sections, which were .1mm larger and wouldn't go all the way in. Do try the fit before you cut to make sure they fit correctly. Mine were better, but the OD on yours may be different from mine, depending on when it was packed.

From the splitter feeder tubes? Really? They seem to me to be the exact right length. When the x-carriage is at the far left or right some of the tubes seem pretty "tense".

But I realized later I could have easily used the tubes from the spool holders.

Thanks anyway for the tip!

This is a horrible suggestion. Even if they are long enough to be able to cut some off, you would then have to edit the firmware to adjust for the length in the Loading/Unloading sequence.

No, the tube lengths can be changed during a reset - it's one of the available options. But it's still a horrible suggestion...

Surely everyone has some spare PTFE tubing; even a few centimetres from the old extruder.
