5mm delay when printing in single color
I'm fairly sure I'm not imaging this, but it seems odd, so ...
When I print in a single color, the print starts exactly as you'd expect; the line is drawn across the front of the print bed and it looks just as you'd expect. Then the nozzle moves to start printing - obviously not the wipe tower because that's not needed - and for some reason the filament doesn't extrude immediately as you'd expect. After all, it's just been primed and that looked just great; but for some reason about the first 5mm drawn are not quite there. In the scheme of things this doesn't really matter - but I don't see if happen at any other time so it bothers me a bit. It's almost like the filament had been retracted for the starting move and that somehow wasn't allowed for when the print began - hence this odd little delay.
Anyway, just wondered if anyone else see this or if I need to get out more.
Thanks
Re: 5mm delay when printing in single color
The filament should be retracted a little at the end of the purge. This should be in start GCode and the slicer won't know about it so will not do the prime at the start of the model.
You could print the model with a skirt or you could change the start GCode to add the prime (Move to NEXTX, NEXTY and extrude by the retract amount).

I'll add a skirt to avoid the problem - simplest solution - thanks!
