Creating MultiColor Prints

Hi Everyone,

I am running into some frustration trying to get multicolor prints going. I am able to print a bender head, which is on my bed now. I like designing my own prints, and I tried using mesh mixer to cut apart some designs. however, when I import many of my models into meshmixer, the seem to get very distorted because the triangle sizes seem large. Anyone know how to fix this?

I notice the mesh mixer doesn't always allow me to export multiple STL files. Sometimes it only gives me the option to export it as only one STL file. Does anyone know why this is? Seems like it depends on the part that I imported for some reason, but I don't know why.

I was also trying to figure out if it possible to use Tinkercad to create designs that just start out as multiple STL files.

The struggle is real!

Rob

Re: Creating MultiColor Prints

Don't know about MeshMixer (sorry), but I do use Tinkercad to create models for my MMUs.

Re: Creating MultiColor Prints

I used to do this in OpenSCAD. It's not elegant but reproducible. You import the stl, then alternately cut the shapes away. You have full control over the coordinates during the subtraction, which makes it extremely easy to obtain seamless parts. Also you keep the script, so you can always track back and improve the model. Never got the hang of meshmixer to be honest, I always felt it's very awkward to use and does strange things if the stl is not 100% clean.
