Filament loading errors

Here’s what happens:

1. select Load filament extruder 1
2. loads first filament and works fine
3. load filament extruder 2/3/4
4. it unloads extruder 1

If I try to load extruders 2-4, only extruder 1 does the slow load spin. 2-4 does nothing. Extruder 2-4 don’t make the slow clicking/loading noise at all.

What’s going on? I double checked the extruder a connections and they seem to be fine.

Re: Filament loading errors

is the idler body moving? you can open the mmu and hit the buttons on the mmu to pick the other filaments. and see how well it moves.

I have a Prusa,therefore I research.

MMU1 😉

So what firmware do you have loaded? Do you have the connections correct on the RAMBo (picture please). Is this the first time you have used the MMU?

Hi there. This is my first time setting up/using MMU. I'm using the latest firmware from prusa. just downloaded from main site a few days ago.

Heres a link to the album https://imgur.com/a/pudMtEq

The MMU board is labeled 1-4 for extruder 1-4. The connections seem pretty solid on the MMU board and the RAMBo.

That's not a lot of use. Please go the the printer, on the LCD you will find a "Support" option which will report the firmware version.

No, sorry, I don't navigate to third-party sites to "view images". Can you please post the photo here. Just attach it to a new post - drag & drop or use the "attachments" option.

Lmk if this helps. Aside from the main MMU board, the other photos are quite difficult to see exactly where the connections is.

Firmware is 3.1.0

Re: Filament loading errors

It seems that the connectors are correct.

Questions:

How long have you had MMU1? How long has it been installed on the printer? Has it ever worked? Which MMU board do you have (relays or electronic switching)?

I think it may be worthwhile having a chat with Prusa support (use "Live Chat" on the shop pages). Give them a link to this thread. They should be aware of what causes this and may be able to give better advice.

If you do get a solution, can you also post it here; it may help others.

I received a used MMU1 as a free gift. The previous owner never mentioned anything about having issues with the electronics working. He upgraded to MK2.5 and bought MMU2, which was how i received this.

I double checked and reconnected all the wires and they are in. I've connected all the extruder motors as extruder 1 and can confirm that the motors work fine. It seems like its either the switch board or that all the commands are just being sent to extruder 1

I have the mk42 stepper switch board.

AFAIK the Mk42 is the bed.

There were 2 versions of the smart switch; the early version had electronic switching and the later had 3 relays.

PR support really are the best people to help you with this.

As you have asked this same question in two threads and have others also attempting to answer in the other thread, you would be better posting there.
