Multi Material print is an automated way, how to print from multiple colours or materials. On Original Prusa i3 MK2S Multi Material, you can print from up to 4 different materials or colours.

Re: Multi Material FAQ - before you ask

I ordered the mk2.5 upgrades for three printers. (all were mk2s originally) They all have the multi material kits on them. Can they be upgraded to the mk2.5 and keep the multi material kit or do they have to be then 'downgraded' partially or fully?

Hi Eric,
MK2.5 brings these new features:
- Magnetic MK52 Heatbed with powder coated PEI spring steel print sheet 12v
- Bondtech extruder gears
- Filament Sensor
- P.I.N.D.A 2 with thermistor
- Noctua fan 12v

On MK2 MMU I see no issues in upgrading the heatbed, PINDA probe and Noctua fan. However, for filament sensor different extruder body will be used and bondtech gears are already included in MMU Extruders.

It all depends on your choice, whether you want to have filaments sensors on your MMU or not. If so, please follow are announcements. There will be upgrade pack from MK2 MMU to MK3 MMU with new printed parts and already mentioned sensors.

Errrrr how does the filament sensor work on the MK2s, I can't see any port/connector for the sensor anywhere. Does the MK2 electronics even have this capability.

Re: Multi Material FAQ - before you ask

Maybe something to add to the faq?

If I have MMU installed can I still print normal gcode files from other software in one color?
