Small part trouble

I’m trying to print these small bushings however having problems with them getting nocked off while printing i think due to the stringing building up. I’m printing in pla at the moment with the standard settings 100% infill. Can anyone suggest anything that would help

many thanks

RE: Small part trouble

That looks like a lot of stringing for PLA. You can try the followingto reduce stringing:

  • Dry your filament
  • Disable Z-Hop in your slicer setting
  • Try a different filament brand

The knocking over can probably be avoided by using a brim on your part. But getting rid of the stringing should be top priority.

Print them one at a time, save the hassle of the stringing.

Increase nozzle temp to reduce stringing.  Sometimes reducing temp helps, too.

Use a gluestik to help adhesion (or clean the bed with soap and water best you can). Hard to do on a MK2... but soap and water works best.

A brim also helps, but removal of the brim can be as much trouble as printing one at a time.

RE: Small part trouble

The initial reason for knocking those parts over is the nozzle hitting the part.

This issue needs to be addressed at first.

Most likely the reason is some overextrusion.

Stringing could get better with the parts nearer together, I see no possible reason to put them that far apart.

Correct retract and K-values are an other reason for stringing, but I don´t see the stringing as reason for knocking the parts over.

A z-lift of 0,2-0,4mm for travelmoves will help, too.

Well I guess charlie-g needs to watch the print closely and then report what knocks them off.

With poor adhesion to the bed I could well imagine the tension in the individual strings "pulling" the part off its original position.
