Random Y-Axis Layer Shifting

I need to print 30 of the same object. More than 50% of the time, there is some-to-a lot of Y-axis layer shift. I've checked:

  • PLA material - tried two different types, both have same issue

  • Belt tightness - quite tight, bass-sounding when plucked

  • Calibration - repeatedly

  • Power Mode - Auto, Normal, and HIgh (seems to work best in "high", but still shifts often)

  • Watches what causes - I can't see any issue. It happens in anywhere from the second layer all the way to the last. Sometimes it's one shift, sometimes it's staircasing.

  • Snags - I've checked cables, wire ties, other encumbrances. Nothing is causing it to push the bed. The filament feeds smoothly.

  • Travel - I've reduced to 120mm/s (this helped reduce the most)
  • I've attempted to print about 25 times now. 9 have printed successfully. Sometimes it will print twice in row perfectly. (3.5hr print). Other times it will fail 4 times in a row (in different layers). Sometimes the thing won't even stick to the print bed (but that's a bit rare).

    HELP. (so frustrated)

    Check these.
Grub screws on the motor shaft - tight and one of them on the flat part of the shaft.
Filament scrap on the teeth of the drive or idler pulley or stuck to the belt can also cause skipping.
Cracked motor bracket or idler bracket.
Screws loose or missing on the bed belt holder connection.
