PETG Prints don't go past 13%

I've been trying to print in PETG but so far I have not been able to get a single print to go beyond 13%. The printer will just stop. The head stays where it is, and it doesn't act like the print is finished or anything. It isn't frozen. What should I do here?

An idea: An incomplete gcode file do that.

Yes, but when I go through a gcode viewer, it shows it all.

Should I post the gcode or something?

Have you run your STL file through a checker?

If printing via the SD Card, make sure that the gcode have been written completely before removing the SD card from your PC.
IE dont be to fast removing the card from the PC.

If priniting via a print server (Octoprint as one example) try to print via the SD Card instead to see if it works.

Yes, I've reviewed it. Here is the GCODE file, it looks fine with me, and when I look at it in a viewer it looks ok as well.

You have not told us how you are communicating this file to the printer. Are you running it from the LCD menu with the file on the SD card? If yes, make a new folder on the card and save the gcode directly into this folder from your slicer (which is? btw). You may have a bad area on the card.

If you are connected by USB and sending the print that way, try using an SD card.

Right now I'm using slic3r, and I have it write the gcode to the desktop. Once I do this, I copy it over to the SD card.

Right now I'm using slic3r, and I have it write the gcode to the desktop. Once I do this, I copy it over to the SD card.

Just walk through it step by step and check the elements. e.g.:

Step 1, is it the gcode file? I attach a zip copy of my gcode file to print Marvin in PETG. Download it, unzip, copy to your SD and try to print. If no good, then it's your gcode file. Otherwise, go to step 2.

Step 2, check SD card by using a different SD card.
Step 3, check SD card transfers by printing something in PLA.
Step 4, start checking printer itself.

Ok. I tried printing your marvin gcode, and I got a BED THERMAL RUNAWAY error.

OK. Spoke to tech support, and it seems small prints can cause runaway. Looks like it's going to complete now.

Now, about stringing....

Ok well I thought it was fixed....now, instead of doing 13%, it died at 88%.

Any ideas?

Yep. The thermister is below the center of the bed and the fan ends up cooling it down. So, the temperature drops and the unit thinks that the thermister must be disconnected and stops things rather than continuing to apply power. This is the most likely reason. You can try any of the following to fix/confirm it.

1. Put an enclosure around it.
2. Increase the room temperature.
3. Turn off/down the fan.
4. Do the build away from the center of the plate.
5. Adjust the plate temperature.

The easiest one to test is just to wait for a few layers to be printed, then go into tune on the menu, choose plate temperature, and set it to a lower temperature (e.g. 80 or 85C). Watch the temperature and see if it can maintain it.

Again, this is the most likely reason, in my opinion. So, I'd do as above to confirm. Also, just check to see that the thermister is still well connected to the bottom of the bed. If you built the kit, this is the reason they say you need maintain some slack in the wire-- in some cases the back an forth in the y direction apparently causes the wire to tighten and get pulled off.
