Feeder starts skipping on extruder

When I bought 3d printer i3 mk2 I got PLA grey filament and that filament is good. Anyhow I tighten screws , grey filament was perfect. Yesterday my orange PLA filament deliver came from PRUSA and I said : I just need to unload grey filament and load orange and everything should be alright.
While loading orange filament nothing happens.....but when I want something to print , extruder randomly starts skipping and clicking sound starts.
Sometimes after 10 minutes , sometimes after 25 minutes. And then I know I need to stop print beacuse it wont end well...

- I tried loosen and tighten screw every mm and nothing happend
- temperature is alright
- tried increase and decrease temperaure and still nothing

here are links of problem

I am having the same issue. I am still very new and can not offer much help. But you are not alone and I have been searching for solutions.

What does the label on the spool say?

Sometimes debris falls down the PTFE and causes blockages. Also, even good filament has a stray particle that blocks the nozzle. Have you tried a cold pull?

Re: Feeder starts skipping on extruder

I have narrowed my issues down to an issue with this filament as well, Prusa PLA Orange. It started to skip on the extrusion, and causing massive jams. Replaced the tube 3 times and got really good at disassembling the printer.

Prints under 2h seem to be fine. Also prints that as less complexity such as boxes seem to work as well.

Currently running through tests with another filament and it seems to be working as it should (watch me jinx it).
I'll check the QR code on the spool on my end and it may be the same batch...

EDIT:
Batch number(?) for my spool is; "63/24.01.2019/L4/1"
I just finished a print that has failed me many times in the past few weeks with another filament and it worked fine.

Re: Feeder starts skipping on extruder

I have had bad filament. Usually either something hard that fell into the vat and caused a plug (particle larger than 0.4mm but smaller than 1.75 mm). When this happens mid spool it is hard to diagnose, but a serious pain in the Keester as it ruins an otherwise good print. Other ways filament is bad is contamination of the outer layer, as if someone slathers on handcream and rubs the outer layer of filament. My guess is someone at the factory is handling the spools without gloves, or something inside the vacuum sealed bag comes off and sticks to the filament (the antistat layer in some bags is hydroscopic based, like a soap).

Beyond these types of defects, there's nothing that says every batch of filament will be perfect. Even one PETG chip left in a mixing vat for a PLA batch can cause print problems. Once in a while a bad spool will happen, and once in a while you will buy that lucky spool.

I tried Cold pull , this type of filament turned out everytime I did it....

So anyone have solution? Is my extruder problem(tightness on screws) , or in extruder something with nozzle or PTFE?

Cold pull looks good. Still could be debris in the heatbreak. Have you removed the nozzle and blasted canned air up the nozzle through the filament path? I'd do that next because debris jams are insidious.

Next step is what are the print settings being use. zip then upload the gcode for the part that isn't printing.

When I print with grey filament it works nicely (so the filament path is not the problem I guess ?) and I am afraid of changing the nozzle because last time I did that I overscrewed the nozzle, it broke, and I had to buy a completely new heatbreak. Should I practice changing it anyway ?

I appreciate you taking your time to help me 🙂

Re: Feeder starts skipping on extruder

The trick when changing the nozzle is to do it while set at 280c. ... comes loose easily, and tightens easily. Also, be sure the nozzle is set against the heat break, and not tightening against the block. The HEX nut part pf the nozzle should be above the block, not touching it..

If other filaments aren't clogging, and run fine on large prints, it probably isn't the debris issue. If only the orange, then try 20c higher extrusion temps, or does the yellow have some odd property, like it's glow in the dark?

By the way - I've printed Orange PLA from Prisa without any change in settings. So it is possible you got a mismarked spool of PETG (very rare, but can happen).
