Z axis banging into bed
i’m at a loss here. i3 MK2. I’m trying to calibrate for the first time with the printer. I got secondhand. When I try to calibrate the z axis, It comes down and presses against the bed hard. Something is off and I just don’t know what it is or how to solve it.
RE: Z axis banging into bed
the Mk2 has an inductive probe to the right hand side of the extruder body
see assembly guide step 20

the inductive sensor, should have a red LED in the resin seal, at the top of the metal section on the Pinda probe (Induction sensor. )
If the sensor is well above the bed, the LED Should be illuminated
If you now touch the end of the Pinda probe with a metalic object, the LED should go dark and go red again when you move the metal away.
if you look in the LCD Menu, you should see a sensor status option, which shows the status of the X and Z endstops, and the status of the Pinda.
when you move metal to touch the lower tip of the Pinda, the LED should go dark and the status of the pinda should also change on the LCD Display.
If all of this works, it looks like the Pinda is too high on your printer, which causes the nozzle to press on the build plate before the Pinda, is close enough to sense the build plate.
these links should help you sort the problem... regards Joan
