Upgrade quastion MK2s to MK2.5

Hello Everyone,

I ruined my bed on my mk2s after trying to peel off a piece of petg. No worries the bed was already well used after more then 3 years of moderate use.

As prusa does not sell the upgrade kit to a 2.5 anymore I ordered one on AliExpress. Since I am not able to print any more I had the following question:

Can I just replace the bed and pinda sensor, upgrade the firmware to 2.5, calibrate and resume printing, or do I need to follow the entire update process (and print all the parts including the parts for the extruder).

I have a Mk2 with MMU1 which is not supported by the Mk52 12 volt heatbed upgtade,

If I go Mk2.5 Firmware, I believe the MMU1 will not work.

so I literally just changed the heatbed.

I know XYZ Calibration will not work. so I don't try it...

the printer works fine,

If you try this, you could then print the new parts and  complete the upgrade to Mk2.5 if you wish

regards Joan

Hi Joan,

Thanks for your quick answer, did you also replace the pinda sensor?

RE: Upgrade quastion MK2s to MK2.5

I don´t think so because the Pinda changes from MK2S to MK2.5 - I think the new sensor ist temperature compensated - any way it has one contact more and so it needs a Y-cable to be able to connect it to the board. Doing this it would be necessary to flash firmware and then your problems will start.

So: change the heatbed to a MK52 12V version and don´t change firmware and Pinda (and you will not be able to do the x, y, z calibration which should´nt be necessary as you didn´t change the printer frame. Be careful and look always to habe a steelsheet on the heatbed as it is not for sure, that pinda will catch the right posission for the magnet (side front, left) - so Pinda will need the steelsheet instead of the magnet.

Best regards, Clemens

no I didn't change the Pinda!

New Mk3s+  pinda's have reverted to three wire non temperature compensated versions...
