thermistor repair

I'm getting "max temp" errors readings on my lcd as well as the temperature being noted around 460degrees once I turn on the printer.
Prior to this, my temp read wasn't accurate and you could hear the sizzling of the plastic as well as smoke.

I took a closer look and the sleeve on one side is frayed; part of it came off leaving one side of the thermistor showing as visible. (I think this is what Is there any way to repair?

Re: thermistor repair

The lower the resistance, the higher the temp reading. Looks like your wires are shorting somewhere.

The sleeve over the leads from the hot end is fibreglass; you can get replacement sleeving from E3D. http://e3d-online.com/Fibreglass-Sleeving?search=fibreglass
