Thermistor Problem?

Last night I started a print and this morning I had a huge glob of plastic on and around the bottom of the hot end (I had already removed a large chunk of it before I took the attached picture). I was able to remove most of it but when I did a self test it failed with a message that says "Heater/Thermistor Not Connected". When I disconnected the thermistor in the Rambo and measured across the connector terminals it reads about 115k ohms, although it was difficult to get a steady reading (could have been a problem with my test leads). When I set the hot end temp to 40 it does get hot, but the display says it's 17 degrees. So I'm looking for some guidance on how to proceed. What should I do?

Thanks,
Rich

Re: Thermistor Problem?

I was actually measuring the resistance of the bed thermistor, not the hot end thermistor. The hot end thermistor is indeed open. The hot end got pretty nasty with PLA so I am planning to replace the entire hot end.

Re: Thermistor Problem?

Hi Richard. Replacing the whole hotend is a bit extravagant. The heatblock heater thermistor ptfe and sock plus nozzle would be less expensive and do the job
