Problems after doing pause and resume

Hi guys,

Usually pausing the print and then resuming later works for me. But sometimes it doesn't.

I'l describe the symptoms of today's failure, and if anyone understand why it's happening and how to solve it, I'll be happy to know.

I paused the print for the night, and I went to sleep. In the morning, I hit resume.

1. When I hit resume, it didn't heat up the extruder, and didn't start printing. So basically it was waiting for nothing. I manually tuned the extruder temperature to 240c, and then it was happy to start printing.
2. When it started printing, for some reason it started at a z level that's about 20 mm higher than the layer it was working on when it paused. Obviously, the strands of PETG started forming spaghetti.
3. After a few moves, it actually moved to the correct z layer (probably because of a layer change in the gcode?) and started printing normally. Almost normally, except...
4. The fan didn't turn back on. I had to tune it back to 40% like it was before in the Tune menu.

Does anyone have an idea why this is happening and how to fix it?

Re: Problems after doing pause and resume

It's a known issue: Pause sometimes sets temps to wrong values when it resumes. Often the fan is turned to 0, too. I haven't read of positional issues, but suspect whatever is corrupting the temps also can upset the position.

You might want to post a defect on Github.

Thanks. If it's a known issue, maybe someone can point me to existing discussing / ticket for this bug? I searched for the issue on https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/issues but couldn't find it.

What version FW are you using? There was a response it would be fixed in a release after 3.4.0 ...

I'm using 3.1.0, I can't install anything more advanced on MK2S, right?

Re: Problems after doing pause and resume

if it helps, on my mk3 I used "change filament" instead of pause. much more trusted. but that is on a mk3. might be worth trying

I have a Prusa,therefore I research.

Re: Problems after doing pause and resume

R&R - I'm not sure. I'm not a Mk2S owner. You should check through the Mk2S firmware release notes; the Mk2S version may or may not be sync'd with the Mk3. v3.4 for the Mk3 has been out for a while, 3.5 just dropped recently. Not sure how Marlin for the 3 and whatever is used on the 2S are related. Also, maybe no one has reported the issue on the Mk2S.
