Printer restarts when I try to start a print

Hey all!

I3mk2
3.1.0
slinging w/ Simplify 3D

Ive had a few prints just... stop mid print, and its been getting worse.

I cant get the printer to start any print anymore. Not even the pre loaded prints (like treefrog), or even the first layer cal work!

When I load up these programs, it loads for a split second, then just reboots, like it just powered on. It sorts the SD files, and goes back to the home screen.

If i tell it to preheat, I just get boxes, and "original prusa... ect" repeating and I hear a faint ticking... the printer is continually rebooting until I power it off.

Any help here? Printer went from printing great to useless in 1 day 🙁

Kyle

First thing to try is re-flash with the latest firmware, and report results.

OK! I Sucessfully re-flashed 3.1.0 and tried a few things.

First layer cal - Crashes right after selection

Print from SD- Usually crashes right after selection. I did get it to start printing the first layer for a minute, then it crashed and restarted, No explanation why.

What else can I do to dial in on the source of error? Are there some log files im missing? Is my Rambo malfunctioning?

Check all electrical connections are fully secured in the right place, and also all the fuses on the Rambo and power supply. It sounds as though you have enough power getting through to heat the bed and nozzle but when you try to power the motors the extra demand is too much.

Ah good idea, If only it was that simple!

I checked 3 fuses on my rambo, and 1 in the PSU by multi meter and by eye, they all appear fine.

I did check and re seat all my connections too. From what I can tell, they seem fine.

Heres a little GIF of what happens when I attempt to start a print:

Sometimes it bugs out even worse, with loading boxes filling up the screen, and I have to power cycle the system.

Hi, when you flashed the firmware did you select the correct firmware for your printer?
When you download the firmware they provide several files for it, Such a for the different rambo boards and Multimaterial.
If you flashed the wrong on it can cause issues.

here is the link on the guide on firmware upgrade.
https://help.prusa3d.com/l/en/article/r5ByKgVm69-firmware-upgrade-and-flashing

If you did flash the correct one then you may want to contact Prusa on this, they have a live chat on the
https://shop.prusa3d.com page or you can email them.

Besides a power problem ist likely...
Just a thought...
Try to turn the file sorting off and use file names like 1.gcode for testing.

I know this is an old thread. But I figured I'd post in here because I had this problem and it's the first search result.

In my case the problem was caused by the Y axis belt rubbing the wires that run along the frame underneath it.
