No power to hotend pins

Hi, I have had the MK2S for about a year now, everything has worked great. A few days ago my hotend/extruder stopped heating.

I took my multimeter and found that the fuses are fine and the cord to the extruder itself is okay. The problem is that the port where the hotend cord plugs into the bottom of the rambo board does not give any power. The heatbed port next to it is working fine, and in fact I tried plugging the hotend plug into it and it starts to heat.

So I really feel that I've identified where the problem is occuring, but it seems like I would have to get a new rambo board. 😮

Does it make sense to rip the whole port off to see if there's some melting under it? What else can I do? 😐

Thanks for any tips.

Definitely ask support on prusa eshop website. If Rambo is out it is warranty issue.

University: MK2S upgraded to MK3 with MMU2.0
Home: MK3
Materials: ABS; ASA; PETG; PET; PLA; Nylon; Nylon Carbon; CPE;
SW: Freecad 0.18; Slicer PE And still generating more troubles than whole forum together.

In conclusion, I did end up having to replace my Rambo board. Works great now, thanks.

The board may still be salvageable by replacing the MOSFET transistor that does the extruder power switching. But that requires some electronics rework equipment, a hot air station at the very least.

Some form factors can be done with a standard iron and a fine enough tip if you have the skills, even if it's surface mount.

As an aside, nice avatar AJ - growing some VFTs from seed myself!

That would be Q1 in the upper right corner. LFPAK form factor. Possible with a very good soldering iron, but so much easier with hot air.
