How to replace pfte on MK2S?
I am looking for how to disassemble the hothend on my MK2S in order to replace the pfte tube.
it looks like i need to disassemble the motor but i can't access the 2 bottom screws
The method described here is not applicable to the MK2S. I did not find anything on the forum either.
Help!

Any idea on how to proceed to reach the 2 screws at the bottom of the motor without dismantling everything?

Someone must have faced the problem, right? 😕

RE: How to replace pfte on MK2S?

Hi!

I'm having a similar issue. I was following this guide: https://help.prusa3d.com/en/guide/how-to-replace-a-ptfe-tube-mk3-mk2-5_17360 (despite the label, this *looks* like my extruder more than the other option.

(The other option: I followed https://help.prusa3d.com/en/guide/how-to-replace-a-ptfe-tube-mk3s-mk2-5s-mmu2s_21664 with a newer machine, and it worked great. The black collet was relatively easy to push in (step 7) and very easy to replace.)

However, I've got everything disassembled and the PTFE tube will not come out with my MK2. I have filament stuck in the PFTE tube and the collet seemed stuck, so I've been poking at it. At this point, I've pretty much destroyed the collet and still cannot get the PTFE out, so I'm pretty frustrated!

I hope the guides are useful to you; in general I find them easy to follow!

Hi Alison,
If the PTFE Won't cone out of thetop of the hotend, try unscrewing the heatbreak from the heatsink, and pushing the PTFE into the heatsink, it should then pop out of the bottom of the heatsink.  regards Joan

If you are still having problems, try heating the heatsink up in the oven to soften the plastic inside, then holt the heatsink with a kitchen glove and push the soft plastic, out, with a 1.5mm allen key/hex wrench and then try pushing the PTFE into the heatsink from the top again

Maybe you can get further with this manual (MK2): https://prusa3d.dozuki.com/Guide/2A.+MK2+Extruder+disassembly/372

good luck!

@joantabb

Thank you! I really appreciate knowing that the heatsink unscrewed from the heatbreak! After unscrewing, it was still stuck.

I heated up the heatsink in the oven as you suggested, and was able to remove the stuck PLA, PTFE tube, and collet! Thank you so much.

Now I just need to get a replacement collet, and I can put it all back together again 🙂

I'm trying to replace the PTFE on my MK2S as well. As you can see in the attached picture, I've managed to expose the hotend, but I don't know where to go from here. I assume I need to remove the hotend from the orange casing, but I don't know how to do that. Thanks for the help!

RE:

Thanks for the reply. The problem is I can't get the hotend to budge (see video here: ). I think the difficulty is due to the PTFE tube extending from the hotend up through the orange plastic piece (you can see it poking out at the top if you squint).

Step 7 of the tutorial for replacing a PTFE tube in an MK2.5 ( https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/how-to-replace-a-ptfe-tube-mk3-mk2-5_17360 ) says there is a special technique for removing the hotend in that model. I tried it on my MK2S and it did not work...perhaps I'm doing it wrong?

Thank you for the help!
