how to adjust for thicker sheets of PEI
I didn't see the firmware upgrade and I destroyed my PEI sheet the other night. Upgraded FW but now I'm waiting for the new sheet to arrive and I'd like to print on something else. I have many other sheet, even a thicker piece of PEI from Amazon.
My question is how to adjust for a thicker sheet? If I wanted to use glass how would I tell it not to crash the head?
Thanks!
Re: how to adjust for thicker sheets of PEI
Assuming the probe can detect the points in the bed through the glass (and the additional height it causes), you could possibly adjust the z height to raise the print height. If you need more clearance than what the z height adjustment does, you'd need to get into the firmware and start adjusting things, which probably wouldn't be that fun compared to a slightly damaged bed.
Re: how to adjust for thicker sheets of PEI
Adjusting your "Live Adjust Z" is probably going to be the easiest way to go.
and an 8 inch (200mm) or greater caliper is recommended.
Re: how to adjust for thicker sheets of PEI
You may use any material as long as its thickness is less than triggering height of Z autoprobe. So other PEI is OK (I hope), but glass will be a problem, unless it is like 1mm thin, which doesn't make sense.
