file incomplete

I've got a problem :

Yesterday all works fine, now today I want print the same file again but the printer always says "file incomplete" after selecting the file from the SD-card.

Tested with some other gcode-files, presliced Prusa too, tested other SD-cards, but still the same problem.

I do an firmware reflash, setting back to default factory, flash again to an older firmware. Nothing works, still "file incomplete". Looks like an hardware error ?

Just printing an file to see if there is really a problem and file is really incomplete, btw. it can't be read to the end.

Re: file incomplete

You could try re-formatting the SD card; it may be corrupt.

I've tested 3 cards, all corrupt ?

OK, next thing to do, after the running print, reformatting the SD-card.

Doubtful. could be a ribbon cable issue, or the card reader may have broken.

Problem solved 😀

But I neither know the reason nor the solution. I do some factory resets, flashed the firmware up and down, and suddenly it works.

Maybe it was an memory or stack overflow ? Maybe an programming error ? Who knows ?

I've just had this happen on my MK3. Not sure what to do; will try flashing firmware...

Re: file incomplete

What worked to get me going was making an entirely new file. I now suspect that maybe there's something in the FAT 8.3 filename handling that was getting confused, and reaching for an old file that no longer was there. So I changed the first 6 characters of the file name and presto, it worked.

Is this a plausible hypothesis?

RE: file incomplete

Had the same message after I updated the firware on my MK3S+ and MMU3. Chose to ignore it as it was small print anyway and all printed fine.
Then replaced the SD Card but the same message keeps appearing. (Don't really want to reset anything now it is finally printing (single color) with the MMU.

Try reading the SD card on a different computer from the one that wrote it - check the end of the file matches the stored value on the original machine ...

And clean the contacts in the card slot - isopropyl alcohol or switch-cleaner on a scrap of absorbent material wrapped around a fine screwdriver or shaved-down matchstick.

Cheerio,
