Extruder Jamming on Print Initialization Trying to Go all the way to Left on X Axis.

I have a Prusa i3 MK2 that I got used from a friend who is really good with 3D printers.  This is my first 3D printer and loved it (I didn't even have to set it up with I know is a right of passage).

My first few prints were great and then suddenly, now whenever a start a print, my extruder tries to go all the way to the left and ends up having this harsh sound and deep vibration as if it is trying to move another mm to the left but can't.  After a few seconds, it stops, then wiggle left and right a bit, then goes through the routine of checking the 9 z points and goes about its business just fine.

I have tried Googling to no avail and retried XYZ calibration and it has the same issue when first starting but then continues and successfully calibrates giving me the success error message.

Any thoughts?

I don't have a MK2, but sounds like your X limit switch has moved or broken.  Check the build/assembly manuals on Prusa's website to see how the switch is adjusted.  Normally the axis moves left until the extruder hits the switch, that tells the printer it is "home," and the printer continues to the next function (home Y, bed level, etc.).

You are precisely correct on the cause of the issue.  It was the X-axis limit switch wasn't making good contact with the extruder anymore.  Not sure what the cause was but I know the switch is working when manually pressed and regardless of how far as I can possibly adjust the switch to protrude out from the x-axis bracket it is attached to, it's won't connect.  My short term solution of a business card taped onto the switch to give it some extra clearance is doing the trick at the moment.

To my first of many future issues as I learn every component on this printer and what it does 🙂

Check the position of the cable bundle coming out of the extruder and specifically the position of the heads of the zip ties. It is common for one of the zip tie heads to get out of position and hit the frame before the extruder reaches the limit switch.
