Was my old MK2/s printed on Powder Coated Sheets?
I've got an MK3s and an old reliable workhorse, this MK2/s, which I bought about a month before the announcement of the MK3. I recently decided to turn the 2/s into a 2.5/s, and in moving the printer around I broke the cover for the LCD. No problem, I'll just print a new one on the MK3s.
What I noticed was that the old orange plastic has that textured finish I get with the MK3s powder coated sheet, NOT the smooth finish I get on the PEI sheet!
Were the last of the MK2/s units' plastic parts printed on an early version of powder coat?

Yes I think so, I bought my MK2S at the start of 2018 and my parts have the finish described as the MK3’s heated powder coated surface.

Not surprising; I'm sure the sheet had a ton of internal testing and evaluation before it was even mentioned to the public. And what better place to clock print hours than their print farm?

Also would you recommend the MK2.5S upgrade with powder coated sheet?
RE: Was my old MK2/s printed on Powder Coated Sheets?
It's been a while but I after some overseas travel, procrastination, troubleshooting, I can say YES, the upgrade is worth it. It is so nice to walk up to a completed print and simply pick them up off the build plate instead of battling the plastic with putty knives and pry bars.
I am thinking of getting a half bear system to improve linearity though.
