Re: Simplify3D print settings (August 30, 2016)

I'm trying to import your profile. Some aspects are importing, but none of the gcode scripts are - and I expect other bits are misisng too.
What am I doing wrong??

Sorry, no idea.
It seems, that file got downloaded a whole lot and no problems with it that I know of.
It is for S3D 4.0.1
Maybe you are using an older one?

Definitely seems to be something wrong with the file, as I can import others, like the one from Prusa's website without issue.
When I import yours, it causes S3D to crash most of the time:
Faulting application name: Simplify3D.exe, version: 4.0.1.0, time stamp: 0x5a254e7a
Faulting module name: Qt5Gui.dll, version: 5.6.3.0, time stamp: 0x59f6f2b7
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000000000032f77b
Faulting process id: 0x520
Faulting application start time: 0x01d3a43bfa65109e
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Simplify3D-4.0.1\Simplify3D.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Simplify3D-4.0.1\Qt5Gui.dll
Report Id: 445c5d0a-102f-11e8-9192-00219b21f4ee

Would it be possible to re-upload it again, just in case it's become corrupt?

Update, recevied response from S3D Support:

Thanks for the email. I would be glad to help you with this. The xml file is configured incorrectly. So, I would recommend not using this profile. If you want to use some of the sections like scripts, I would suggest using the profile from Config Assistant as a starting profile, making additional changes in Process settings, then save the profile.

I just attached my file again. Some minor adjustments mainly in retraction for the materials against the previous version.
It imports well without any issue (as the previous did too), no idea what the guys mean with incorrect configured....
I am on S3D 4.0.1 on a WIN10 Professional 64 bit system.
Hope, it now works for you, too...

Re: Simplify3D print settings (August 30, 2016)

Thanks, that imported fine.
However, I found the cause of the issue.... Even after re-installing S3D I was still having profile issues, even with 'good' ones exported then re-imported.
So, in desperation I deleted the 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Simplify3D' registry key then re-installed. Voila - no further issues.
It seems somehow the registry key had become corrupt. No idea how, the profiles showed it up. S3D support weren't very helpful, just said there was a fault with the file, but couldn't tell me what was wrong with it. I suspect nothing.

Apologies for the confusion !

That is how things happen...
I wish always happy printing!
And let us know whether that profile meets your needs and provides nice printings...

Re: Simplify3D print settings (August 30, 2016)

I improved your profile a bit (attached).
I sorted the print-quality into order, added 0.05 layer height, and added auto settings to set the first layer to 0.2 (see below) for 0.1 and 0.05 layers and set support and infill to 0.2 (every 2 and 4 layers respectively) for these layer heights, which speeds it up a bit.

* This is because I find 0.1 and 0.05 first layers usually don't stick very well to the bed, but 0.2 does. so setting the first layer to 0.2 fixes this.

Update - Found that auto 0.1 had the wrong layer height set, and too few top and bottom layers - fixed in 'Prisa I3 Auto2', attached.

Mk2, non MMU. MK3 is here: https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3-f30/simplify3d-settings-for-mk3-t12950.html .
I created a MMU version, with the appropriate Linear Advance K-values, attached.

Re: Simplify3D print settings (August 30, 2016)

I was still getting a little stringing with PLA on my MMU with the above file, and the nozzle dislodging small parts on moving, so i've modified it with retraction and Z-lift to match Slic3r - and i'd now printing PLA perfectly.
So updated file attached.

Hi Alan

A bit of an oddity with your profile on the MK2 - I'm getting an odd vertical seam at the back all the way up on prints.

I don't get it with the older profiles (from months back) and I don't get it with the PrusaControl - so something in it is causing an weirdness...

I'll try and post a pic later

Could someone please post these profiles on Gitub or Bitbucket so someone can find the latest?

YES! Please somebody post the profiles somewhere so that we can easily find and download them. Honestly I'd rather use Slic3r but it simply cannot do what I need it to do, so I have no choice but to use Simplify3d which I'm completely unfamiliar with!

Curious: What specifically aren't you able to do with Slic3r? Custom supports are the big killer S3D feature I think, but I may be missing something.

Re: Simplify3D print settings (August 30, 2016)

Slic3r does not acknowledge the inner structures on thin walled prints. Such as 3dlabprint.com rc airplanes which have 1 vertical shell and 0 horizontal shells. You must use Cura or S3D to slice these models or all you will get is the outer skins.

RE: Simplify3D print settings (August 30, 2016)

Hi guys...  I'm trying to find the latest Simplify3d profiles from alexander-s27 but I haven't been able to find them...  in the messages he states that are attached, but I cannot find any attachment or link to download from..  I really need to get help with printing with PET-G and his profile should be very useful.

Thanks!
