I have had an email conversation with Prusa Customer Support but they are no longer replying to my emails? Not much support their then! 😕 😮

I asked if the Heated Bed on their Eshop for a Mk2B would fit a Mk2 and also when they were getting them back in stock. They said they did not have a heated bed for a Mk2B on the Eshop so I sent them a link and have heard nothing back since!

Having had another look at the bed it could be that it's just the PEI sheet that needs replaced. I will strip the bed off and then remove the PEI sheet to asses the damage.

Hi Ewan,

I have just changed the PEI on my Mk2 MMU

I chose to go for a removable steel sheet
so I ordered a piece of stainless steel sheet
and a piece of PEI.
I already had some "Swiss clips"

the steel plate installed on my printer

the swiss clips have a tiny prong for locating in picture back's, I snapped this off to prevent damage to the bottom of my heatbed

I also put a layer of duct tape, on the swiss clip to protect my heatbed

it's difficult to see the clips in the picture of the sheet installed on the bed, they do clear the frame when the bed moves...

the stainless was 1mm thick, if I was doing it again I would go for 0.7mm thick, because 1mm is very stiff.
be careful attaching the PEI sheet, I managed to get mine slightly off square and a tiny bit of the Steel is not covered down one edge.

3m adhesive is not forgiving, so I couldn't re align the material 🙁

I can now remove the plate and flex it to remove printed models.

Not surprised really, as they don't have a Mk2B. Just a Mk2 or Mk2S or Mk2/S for either Mk2 and Mk2S. They probably thought you were spamming them.

In any event, it's better to contact them via "Live Chat" on the shop pages.

You probably don't need a new bed at present; just make sure you follow the instructions for removing the PEI sheet.

A stainless plate plate on the bed would certainly make for easier removal of parts. I did wonder why people were doing this. Does the auto bed leveling still work with this mod?

Would it work with PEI sheet on the bed then steel/PEI on top? This would be a safeguard in case someone forgot to put the steel on before printing.

The Mk2B reference came from the link to the only heated bed I could find in the Eshop -

that is exactly how mine is configured...

My original heatbed became manky. I had a brand new bed which I have had for ages, so I replaced the complete bed.

afterwards I could not get the new bed to give a satisfactory Live Z result. the front right hand corned was mashing the filament when the other areas were OK, Bed correction didn't sort this for me,
so after trying repeatedly to resolve the issue, including changing the heights of the corners with packing
I gave up, fitted the steel sheet and PEI, and am now back to printing...

although the bed is new, I have had it in stock for a long time, so I don 't think I can try and claim off prusa,
and as it is now working, I am not really bothered... the removeable surface is preferable to me anyway.

Can you confirm mesh bed levelling still works because the PINDA now 'finds' steel plate at each of the 9 calibration points?
